CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns might be publicly maintaining their quarterback competition remains wide open, but actions speak louder than words at training camp. All signs now point to 40-year-old veteran Joe Flacco securing the starting job, even as the team continues their four-quarterback juggling act.

Veteran Joe Flacco shared his thoughts on rookie Shedeur Sanders receiving the starting quarterback nod in the Cleveland Browns' preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. Flacco is entering his 18th NFL season while Sanders was drafted in April.

“Listen, I can be an a——, but not necessarily in that way,” Flacco said. “I feel like I try to be a good person, so all I can do is do my job to the best of my ability. If that means I’m not the guy, well, yeah, I might feel a certain way about it, but I’m not gonna be bitter about it towards other people that didn’t do anything to me.
