Jonathan Toews is making his NHL comeback this fall with his hometown team. Toews, who hasn't played since the 2022-23 season with the Chicago Blackhawks, agreed to a contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

Brodie has been placed on waivers by the Blackhawks for the purpose of a contract buyout, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. If Brodie clears waivers, the Blackhawks will officially buy out the last year of his contract and he will become an unrestricted free agent.

The Hawks won't save much salary-cap space but will move on from Brodie, who was a healthy scratch for the final 22 games of last season.
