Sensex and Nifty traded higher on Friday, driven by the U.S. Federal Reserve's significant interest rate cut and hopes for a soft landing for the U.S. economy, which have increased risk appetite in global markets.

The S P BSE Sensex was up 965 points to 84,149.80 at 11:30 am, while the NSE Nifty50 gained 276.60 points to trade at 25,692.40.

Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, Maruti, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, Nestle, Bharti Airtel and Adani Ports led the gains

The US data released overnight indicates that the US labour market is only slowing, not deteriorating. With inflation under control, this means the US is set for a soft landing under a declining interest rate scenario.
