A 4.1-magnitude earthquake in Tennessee woke up families and rattled homes as far away as Atlanta as it spread tremors across portions of the southern U.S. on Saturday morning. No injuries or major damage were immediately reported.

ATLANTA — A 4.1 magnitude earthquake was reported in east Tennessee just after 9 a.m. The U.S.G.S. confirmed the earthquake happened in Greenback, Tennessee. Channel 2 Action News has received a long list of reports of people across metro Atlanta and north Georgia feeling its effects. Greenback, Tenn. is located about 160 miles north of Atlanta.

The quake on Saturday morning had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1, with an epicenter about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville, Tenn. Residents in Atlanta reported feeling it.
