Universal Studios Hollywood will be closed Wednesday amid the wildfires and high winds that continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.

Universal was not the only amusement park to close. Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia also announced closure due to high winds. So far, other major parks, Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, Disneyland in Anaheim, Legoland in Carlsbad are still open.

The fires have caused the evacuation of thousands of residents, power outages and the temporary closure of major theme parks.

Universal Studios Hollywood theme park and CityWalk will be closed Wednesday due to the fires and extreme wind conditions.

The last major extended closure of the theme park occurred during the COVID pandemic in 2020. For the first time since the COVID pandemic in 2020, the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park will close amid the Los Angeles wildfires.

Universal Studios Hollywood said “extreme winds and fire conditions" have prompted it to keep its theme park gates and Universal CityWalk closed Wednesday.
