New York DEC and DOH have issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for fine particulate matter on June 7, 2025, due to wildfire smoke from Canada, and are recommending that people stay indoors to reduce exposure.

Parts of Canada are seeing some of their most unhealthy air yet, and the smoke is likely to move over the United States again this weekend.

An air quality index of 300 or higher is considered hazardous, and the record-breaking smoke AQI in Grand Portage reached 800 on Tuesday.
