California leaders said yesterday that they would file a lawsuit against President Trump for deploying National Guard troops to Los Angeles as part of a crackdown on immigration. The lawsuit will argue that Trump’s order to the National Guard was illegal because he bypassed the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.
California officials on Thursday filed their 26th lawsuit against the Trump administration, after the president signed resolutions overturning the Golden State’s landmark electric vehicle (EV) mandate.
California is suing the Trump administration over its deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles in response to anti-ICE protests. CBS News justice correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more.
